Use a different theme each time you hold a get together. Card night, Boardgames, Puzzle night ect.
The kids learn new skills such as making conversations, taking turns, good sportsmenship when they loose or win gracefully.

age 4-6: concentration, slapjack, go fish
age 6-8: war, pig, old maid, crazy eight
age 8-10: I doubt it, spoons, casino, split hearts
